Growing Up is Hard

You may or may not be aware of G's larger than life personality.

He is an all or nothing kind of guy.

At 4 years of age he knows what he wants and what he likes and he will let his feelings be known, LOUD and clear!

G is obsessed with all things that are soft.  It could be anything from a blanket to a pair of pj's.

If it's soft he likes loves it!

Little did I know 2 years ago when I purchased a pair of fleece Santa jammies, that they would become his favorite!

*Sorry for the elephant ears.  It's
amazing how difficult it was to find a picture of him wearing the pj's that he never takes off!

I would even venture to say that they are more than simply his favorite.  G is flat out obsessed with these pj's.  He wears these things all of the time.  As soon as they are clean they are the first pair he picks out to wear.  It's been like 100 degrees almost every day this summer and the kid still chooses to wear fleece pj's with long sleeves and pants.

The other day I made the mistake of mentioning that his favorite pj's were beginning to look a little short on him.

I'm not really sure what I was thinking as the words spilled out of my mouth.

Have you ever had one of those moments where you're watching and listening to yourself.  You hear what's coming out of your mouth and you know it needs to stop, but no matter how hard you try you just. can't. make. it. stop. {Yeah that's how it went down}

It is an understatement to say that he was upset about the pj's.  He was down right pissed!

I'm pretty sure the neighbors heard his disgust with me over the comment.

I guess I should learn to keep my opinions to myself.

I'm pretty sure he's going to hang onto these babies until he can't pull them on.

Do your kids obsess over anything?

  1. All my kids have Angels Rally Monkeys and they have to have them when they sleep. And if they're watching TV, they have to be under their blankets, even when it was 114 outside. I keep thinking they'll grow out of this phase but it doesn't look like the end is anywhere in sight.

    1. That's cute that they all have the same monkey :) I'm sure it makes it tough to figure out which monkey belongs to each of them.

  2. I think it's so sweet how he obsesses over those pj's :).
My 6-year old daughter hasn't showed signs of obsession with anything...yet!

Oh, I find myself constantly saying things which I regret later on...

    1. Thanks!

You are lucky that she hasn't found anything. Hopefully for you she won't :) My 6 year old doesn't really have any one that he's obsessed over. Although he is very much into Toy Story. He's had 4 Toy Story birthday parties.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who says regretful things!

  3. Her blankie. She is on her second one and the switch was painful. The first one was worn to rags and I was afraid seh was going to accidentally choke herself with all the holes. She loves her new bee blanket and it's a litte more durable and I see her going off to college with it. I love his Santa jammies. :)

    1. AWWW how sweet! I'm a blankie girl myself. Good thing she loves the new bee blanket. That could be a rough transition.

Thanks . . . he just loves those jammies!

  4. My 4 year old will only wear one type of jean shorts. I've purchased multiple pairs for her to wear so she doesn't wear the same pair all week. 4 is a tough age, but it only lasts a year!

    1. That's so much fun when they will only wear 1 type of something. I remember when my 6 year old started that. Oh and he was 4 when it began! It seemed as if out of the blue he suddenly had an opinion about what he was going to wear. Before that I could just lay out his clothes and he'd put them on. I swear some days he's like a teenage girl when it comes to clothes!

    1. I'm doing a walk of shame when I admit this, but I still sleep with my baby blanket too! LOL! I just have to have something to prop my head up as I sleep so my neck doesn't hurt in the morning. Is that terrible or what?!
