Back to Cool

Unfortunately, I have been so busy with work that I've been forced to take a temporary break from blogging . . . *sigh*

I 'officially' went back on Tuesday and my kids came today.

Let's be honest here, I've spent about 3 or 4 weeks {with no air conditioning by the way} working in my classroom.  I've been going in with a friend after we both eat dinner with our families and after the kids settle down for the night.  There is no way to get ready for the school year in the 1 mandatory contract day set aside before the kids come.

I did get a new Back to School hair do.

Here's the before:

I posted this picture on Facebook and a friend asked why I looked so mad.

I wasn't going for the mad look.  It's more like I kinda feel like a dummy taking a picture of myself if the mirror, but whateva, I'm gonna take one anyway look.

Here's the after:

So be honest now, what do ya think?  Am I like totally unprofessional with pink hair and all?

Alrighty I hate to do this, but that’s all I’ve got for tonight.

This going to bed at 1:30 and getting up at 4:30 is putting a serious cramp in my style!

    You go back to school early! We don't go back until September 5.

    1. Thanks so much!
      Yeah it is super early. We're starting a balanced calendar this year. We start a week earlier than usual and get out a week later. For fall break we will be off for 2 week. We used to only have 2 days. We will be off for 2 weeks at Christmas, no change there and we will be off for 2 weeks at spring break rather than 1.
      September 5 sounds so nice!

  2. Wow, I totally love the pink hair! It doesn't overpower your natural hair color. Now you've got me thinking of doing the same to my hair. School starts in two days for me, so I guess there's still time for a fresh back to school look :)

    1. Thank you very much!

      I really like it. I was a little nervous at first, thinking maybe it would be a distraction, but it's not. My son told me he really liked it and then asked if I could make his hair green! LOL!

      You should go for it if you want to. You totally need to post pictures, too :)

  3. How fun! I love it. You are going to get the "Coolest Teacher Ever" award. We don't go back until August 22. Two weeks at Spring Break sounds nice. Then we could see Leo's mom in FL and still get a break the second week.

    1. Ha! Ha! You're so funny! Thanks :)
      August 22 sounds nice! I think 2 weeks at Spring break is going to be very nice. I'm really looking forward to it. I don't think we're going to do anything too earth shattering though. We're thinking about trying to go to Florida in the summer. We'll see how that works out.

    {It's so very much work to get ready for the year, isn't it? Le sigh.}

    1. Why thank you very much!

      {Yes, it is so much work! But, when those bouncing, smiley faces come through the door, it's worth it!}

  5. Went in for an unofficial meeting today, but can't get into my classroom until the 17th because they are redoing the HVAC.

    Just got a call from my hair dresser... last minute cancellation means I am getting back to school hair this afternoon!

    1. Oh meetings, aren't they so much fun?! {UM, NO!}
      3 years ago the township I work in did a 'redesign' and several teachers {including myself} were moved to other buildings to help 'balance' things. Anyway the building that I was in had the HVAC re-done the year I had to move. I felt so badly for the teachers because they were scrambling to get their classrooms back together before Meet Your Teacher night. It was awful! Good luck to you. Hopefully things will go more smoothly.

      Yay! for a call from your hairdresser. Hope you're liking the new hair :)

    1. Thanks!
      Funny thing my new students haven't really said much about it. Former students stop me frequently and tell me that they like it.
      Kids are so funny sometimes :)

    1. Thank you so much! I think it's fun. Even my mom, who by the way is totally not into colored hair, thinks it's 'cute' and 'very me', as she said.
